If I want to get a ring in a special alloy of Gold, can you make one?
Technically we can, but it would require that we order the metal already alloyed, which would mean that we must find a supplier that can sell in small quantities. We are not a large operation jewelry store, and it is not feasible for us to offer our Gold jewelry in all the various alloys. We are willing to discuss this further if you are willing to wait the required amount of time and pay for the added cost associated with working with a special alloy.

My fiance' and I are getting married and we would like a specially designed set of wedding bands made. How long would it take to get these?
We absolutely love to make wedding rings. It is very satisfying for us to produce something so meaningful. We will be glad to work with you if you are on a tight schedule, but our lead-time is normally less than 3 weeks for a special design.

How do you determine ring sizing?
Actually, we don't determine ring sizing..you do! In fact, we ask that you either have your finger of choice properly sized for a wide ring by a professional, or you can just measure your finger yourself. Cut a thin strip of paper about 1/4" wide and several inches long, and then wrap it several times comfortably around your finger's large KNUCKLE. Then just cut a notch in the paper carefully with some small scissors. Uncurl the paper and the resulting distance between the notches is the proper size for your ring. Please use a very accurate ruler, get someone with an accurate ruler to measure it for you, or mail the strip to us.

Why do you recommend that I not order a ring for my Thumb, Index, or Pinky finger?
We are not saying you can’t. You are free to buy a ring for any finger (or thumb) you choose! Experience has shown us, however, that a person's thumb generally is shaped in a way that does not hold our style of wide rings very well - they slip off. And rings worn on the outside fingers (index and pinky) are more prone to suffer excessive wear and tear than those fingers on the inside that are surrounded on either side by other 'digits'. Additionally, Allison can personally attest to having lost a ring from her pinky finger and her thumb while outside in cold weather – the knuckles of those digits were just not enough to hold a ring on her cold and "shrunken" fingers.

What is the Karat weight of "Fine Gold"?
As with Fine Silver, the term "Fine Gold" refers to the metal in its purest available form. For Silver and Gold, the term "Fine" means it is 99.9% pure. Gold is most often measured by Karat weight when it is alloyed with other metals, although technically "24 Karat" is another way to say "Pure Gold" or "Fine Gold".

Your prices seem a bit high. Why is that?
Actually, our prices are quite reasonable when you consider that we are selling jewelry that is VERY labor intensive, made by hand from ingot to finished product, requires a great deal of skill, specialized tooling, and in many cases requires us to create a jig to produce a piece of jewelry that is custom-fit to each owner. We have carefully considered the pricing of our jewelry based on the price of the materials used and the amount of labor involved. While we do not mass-produce jewelry, we do work very efficiently and yet a single piece of jewelry can still take several hours to make. The jewelry you get at a jewelry store is nice, but our jewelry will be a conversational piece everywhere you go.

Do you offer discounted pricing for large orders?
Yes we do! Go to the "Contact Us" page and let us know what you are wanting and we can discuss a potential discount.

Why don't you offer more (types of) jewelry?
Good question. The simple answer is that we try to add to our product line as often as we can. There certainly are many new ideas we have, and we welcome your suggestions. Please continue to visit our site, and we hope to have more jewelry to offer in the future!

Do you both do this for a living?
Making jewelry is not our full time job. Allison works in education, and Dan works in electronics. Sometimes we both wish that making jewelry was in fact our full-time job. We both enjoy it immensely

Do you have a degree in jewelry-making?
No. While there are degree programs for jewelry-makers, silversmiths, goldsmiths, and jewelry designers, we do not have a degree. We are members of an official jewelry-makers guild, have trained in the specialized areas of expertise which we use in making our jewelry, and have a great deal of experience with working precious metals. If there is any doubt as to our skill or the purity of our products, we welcome you to have our jewelry examined and tested by a college-educated professional...if you can find one. The little known fact of the matter is that if you go to any major jewelry store and ask their employees (the ones that test jewelry) if they have degrees, you might spend all week trying to find one who does. And yet you trust them to test your jewelry! Why is that? It's because while they don't have degrees, they KNOW what they are doing and how to do it. We are no exception. We stand by our work, and we take great pride in it.

Where is your store? I'd like to come and see what you have.
Unfortunately, we do not have a store. We are just simple (part time) artisans of an age-old craft, making jewelry in our workshop. We don't keep a surplus of items in stock, except during peak seasons for sales at select local festivals in the MD, PA, DC, VA and WV area. Feel free to Email us to find out where we will be if you live in these states.
